Led by second-ranked BYU, local college cross-country teams look to make history

PROVO — Five local college cross country teams will compete in the NCAA National Championships on Saturday.

Second-ranked BYU heads into the meet with the best chance of earning a National title in the men’s 10k race. The Cougars’ men’s team earned an automatic bid by placing second in the regional meet, while the BYU women’s team earned an at-large bid after placing third in the Mountain Region Championships.

“We are excited for the prospect of a national championship,” said head coach Ed Eyestone. “This has been the best year in BYU men’s cross country history thus far.
