LDS Church president announces eight new temples, restoration of historic sites in Salt Lake City, Manti, Logan

A planned renovation of the Salt Lake Temple, Temple Square and the Church Office Building plaza — all owned and operated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints — will be formally unveiled April 19, church President Russell M. Nelson said Sunday.

Renovation plans also will be coming for other Utah pioneer-era temples in Logan and Manti. The St. George project already has been released.

“Ours is a sacred responsibility to care for them,” Nelson said. “Therefore, these pioneer temples will soon undergo a period of renewal and refreshing, and, for some, a major restoration.
