After Utah Royals FC forward Christen Press started the 2019 season with an assist, the other aspect of her game shone through Saturday against the Orlando Pride.
Press scored her first goal of the season, lifting the Royals to a 1-0 win over the Pride. Utah has now won two consecutive games and moves to the top of the National Women’s Soccer League standings with six points.
Saturday’s win marked the first time ever that Utah beat Orlando. The Royals lost two games against the Pride in 2018 and drew the third.
URFC did exactly what it wanted to do to start the season: win the first two games while its entire contingent of Women’s World Cup players were on the field.
