The Cougars took advantage of some miserable Utah State free-throw shooting and heated up after an ice-cold start to take a 75-66 win over the Aggies on Saturday night.
BYU roared back and led 53-47 after a 3-pointer by TJ Haws with with 7:39 remaining and stretched the advantage to 11 with 2:35 left on a driving layup by McKay Cannon.
They jumped out to an 15-7 lead on a 3-pointer by Sam Merrill with 8:40 remaining in the first half, but were just 2 of 9 from the free-throw line in the first 20 minutes and couldn’t hold the advantage.
