Utah Jazz's struggles in transition defense kept Washington Wizards within striking distance

SALT LAKE CITY — In the Utah Jazz’s nine games prior to Friday night’s contest against the Washington Wizards at Vivint Arena, the team’s defense has been mostly excellent, albeit against some of the worst teams in the NBA.

On Friday, however, that defense struggled to get stops and the Jazz offense had to rise to the occasion to get the 128-124 victory.

The 124 points Utah surrendered was the most it had given up in a regulation game since the Houston Rockets scored 125 on Feb. 2 (the Oklahoma City Thunder put up 148 in a double-overtime contest on Feb.
