Utah Jazz outlast the Los Angeles Lakers 117-114 in overtime thriller

HONOLULU — In a game that was physical and fun, the Utah Jazz outlasted the Los Angeles Lakers 117-114 in overtime late Tuesday night at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Shooting guard Alec Burks shouldered the offensive load for the Jazz down the stretch, scoring a game-high 27 points.

Burks showed no signs of rust in his second game since his season-ending surgery last December. He shot 9-for-14 after going 0-for-5 in Sunday’s opener.

Second-year small forward Rodney Hood rebounded from his 1-for-9 shooting performance in the first game to score 21 points on 7-of-16 shooting.

Trey Burke (15 points), Trey Lyles (13 points) and Jeff Withey (11 points) also reached double figures for the Jazz in this offensive thriller.
