Utah Jazz have an open roster spot, here's what they could do with it

San Antonio Spurs forward Kyle Anderson is blocked by Utah forward J.J. O'Brien during the Utah Jazz and San Antonio Spurs Summer League basketball game at EnergySolutions Arena on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 in Salt Lake City.

When the Utah Jazz waived second-year guard Elijah Millsap on Tuesday, it left the team with a vacancy. The Jazz have traditionally kept a roster spot open to maintain flexibility. In recent years, Jazz general manager Dennis Lindsey has used that position liberally to give different players a 10-day contract or two — essentially an on-the-job tryout.

Things may be a bit different this time around.
