Utah Jazz fall to Detroit 92-87 in season opener

Derrick Favors led all scorers with 26 points on 10-of-15 shooting and six rebounds, but the Utah Jazz fell to Detroit 92-87 in its season-opener Wednesday night.

After trailing throughout the fourth quarter, Gordon Hayward banked in a layup with 23 seconds left to give the Jazz a slim 87-86 lead. Reggie Jackson answered by cutting to the basket and hitting a layup just six seconds later to help Detroit regain the lead.

Alec Burks then missed a mid-range jumper, and Detroit extended its lead to 90-87 with a pair of free throws with 9.4 seconds remaining in regulation.
