Utah Jazz doomed during final 23 seconds in season-opening 92-87 loss at Detroit

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — They were competitive on the road for four quarters in front of a charged-up crowd at the famous Palace of Auburn Hills. Their defense looked as strong as it did at the end of last season. They even rallied past a physical Detroit team to take the lead late in the game.

All that was missing for the Utah Jazz in their 2015-16 season opener?

One stop, another make or two and ... a win.

Some would argue a late foul call was missed, too.

In a game that wasn’t decided until five seconds remained, the Pistons won for the second night in a row by edging the Jazz 92-87 on Wednesday night.
