After losing four of their last five games and essentially choking away their first playoff berth since 2012, it’s hard to know exactly what to make of the Utah Jazz season. Do we place all of the blame on injuries? Can we consider a 40-win season progress? A week has passed, but uncertainty abounds.

In order to make sense of what transpired over the last year in Jazzland, I’m going all liberal arts on you and employing haiku–a traditional Japanese poetry style composed of three juxtaposed phrases of five, seven and five respective syllables.

So dim the lights, get your Gyokuro brewing and prepare to expand your mind and discover the true essence of the strange season that was.
