The 1992 NBA draft: Redoing a draft of superstars and solid contributors

Louisiana State University player Shaquille O'Neal, center, Alonzo Mourning, right, of Georgetown, and Jim Jackson of Ohio State pose together as they hold NBA draft hats in Portland, Ore., on June 23, 1992. The basketball players are first round NBA Draft picks: O'Neal first, Orlando; Mourning second, Charlotte; and Jackson fourth, Dallas.

The 1992 NBA draft was loaded with longtime contributors. In fact, 26 players from that draft played at least eight seasons and 15 players averaged double figures in scoring for their careers. The draft consisted of two rounds with 27 picks per round. Of the 54 players selected, 48 played in the NBA.
