SALT LAKE CITY — It’s been largely seen as a formality as much as anything, but Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell will reportedly sign a rookie max contract extension with the team this offseason, according to Yahoo!’s Chris Haynes.
In a story published Wednesday that chronicled Mitchell’s past few months and an emotional Game 7 loss to the Denver Nuggets Tuesday night, Haynes dropped the contract tidbit, a deal that is expected to be for five years and approximately $170 million.
While Mitchell didn’t publicly say anything directly about the extension after Tuesday’s game, he did say that “this is just the beginning” of what he hopes is a long run of success with the Jazz.
