Johnnie Bryant thanks Utah as he departs for New York Knicks

SALT LAKE CITY — The New York Knicks on Friday morning made official the hiring of Utah Jazz assistant coach Johnnie Bryant as associate head coach, which was originally reported by The Athletic’s Shams Charania on Aug. 18 (Bryant stayed with the Jazz until their season concluded).

Bryant’s move to the Big Apple marks the end of a long time spent in the Beehive State for the Oakland, California, native, who played at the University of Utah from 2005-2008 and has been with the Jazz since 2012. On Friday he posted a note on Twitter to express gratitude for the state and the Jazz.
