Jazz Players to Visit Local Schools as Part of “Be A Team Player - Read!” Contest

SALT LAKE CITY (February 19, 2016) – Utah Jazz players will visit 10 elementary schools in two days as part of the 18th annual “Be A Team Player – Read!” contest. Eight assemblies will be held along the Wasatch Front on Wednesday, Feb. 24, with two more taking place in Tooele on Friday, Feb. 26.

The program required local students to chart and report their out-of-school reading minutes for one month. More than 18,600 students from 37 elementary schools participated in this year’s contest reading a combined total of 11,333,832 minutes.

The 10 participating schools that logged the most minutes read per student are being awarded a reading assembly with a Jazz player followed by a Q & A session and party for the entire student body.
