Giants strike deal with Daniel Jones, use tag on Saquon Barkley

The New York Giants have agreed to a four-year deal with quarterback Daniel Jones and have used their franchise tag on star running back Saquon Barkley, sources told ESPN.

The Giants made the moves just ahead of Tuesday's 4 p.m. ET deadline for NFL teams to use their franchise and transition tags.

Giants general manager Joe Schoen had publicly stated that the team hoped to retain both players, which was made possible by the long-term deal for Jones.

Jones, who turns 26 in May, is coming off the most efficient season of his career and led the Giants to a winning record for the first time since being drafted in the first round in 2019.
