Utah Jazz forward Derrick Favors (15) guards Oklahoma City Thunder center Enes Kanter (11) during a basketball game at the Vivint Smart Home Arena in Salt Lake City on Monday, Jan. 23, 2017. The Jazz lost 95-97.

Former Utah Jazz center Enes Kanter has long voiced his displeasure with Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan, instead publicly supporting cleric Fethullah Gulen, who was condemned for supposedly leading an attempted military coup over the current administration about a year ago.

On Friday morning, Kanter tweeted that his father, Mehmet Kanter, had been arrested by the Turkish government.
