OREM — Dan Majerle walks onto the court for Grand Canyon’s final game of the regular season when someone from the crowd grabs his attention.
“Thunder Dan!” the fan at the UCCU Center belts. Majerle turns his head and waves. A few more fans chime in as Majerle — a three-time NBA All-Star in a 14-year career as a player and fan favorite — waves in each direction to acknowledge the support. However, that’s not uncommon for the third-year Grand Canyon coach.
“I get that a lot, but that’s fine,” Majerle said, following GCU’s season-finale win over Utah Valley on Saturday.
