Youth program abroad inspires coach

In the village of Orion, a man bonded with a group of orphans over the game of basketball.

Talby Justus, UTA women’s basketball assistant coach, said his two weeks in Russia with the Allies in Youth Development program reminded him of James Naismith introducing the game 125 years ago.

Allies in Youth Development encourages in-country university students to make a positive impact in the lives of orphans in the Eastern European and Russian regions.

Justus discovered the program when he met program founder Chris Burgin, who invited him to join on the programs upcoming trip to Russia.
