NEW ORLEANS - Two wins against South Alabama during Sun Belt Conference play helped the women's basketball team secure the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament and a first-round bye.
Now, the Lady Mavs will have to beat the Jaguars for a third time if they want to advance to the semifinals.
"We were excited to get a first-round bye," head coach Krista Gerlich said. "One less game for us, but South Alabama had a chance to shake off those first game jitters already."
South Alabama defeated Georgia State 49-44 in the first round of the Sun Belt Championship.
