The Sun Belt's top scoring team couldn’t outscore the Lady Mavericks.
The Lady Mavericks defeated Troy University 78-72 Thursday at College Park Center.
In the last matchup, the Trojans beat UTA by 17 and led by up to 28 points. The team was limited to no more than a four-point lead in the Lady Maverick's house.
"Our game plan was smarter," head coach Krista Gerlich said. "Our kids really responded to us being smarter and just taking away their running game a little bit more. That was a huge difference."
UTA led by six points in the first quarter, but Troy used two 5-0 runs to close the quarter on a 16-15 lead.
