The Los Angeles Sparks (23-5) pushed the Dallas Wings (9-20) further away from playoff contention with an 87-79 loss Friday at College Park Center.
The Wings had the upper hand in the first quarter, out-rebounding the Sparks defensively. The Sparks had six fouls in the first quarter, allowing the Wings to shoot 75 percent from the free throw line and keep their lead. After going on a 21-9 run in the final seven minutes, the Wings finished the first quarter with a 23-15 lead.
The Sparks caught up and took a 33-28 lead in the second quarter.
