The UTA volleyball team secured its first home conference win of the season after a 3-0 sweep over Appalachian State Friday at College Park Center.
Seven attack errors from the Mountaineers gave the Mavericks a 12-6 start. Appalachian State cut the lead down to 18-15, but a hard-hitting block from sophomore middle blocker Marisah Ingram and senior setter Cassidy Wheeler raised the set score to 22-15. Freshman outside hitter Emma Longley’s three consecutive attack errors paired with a kill from senior outside hitter Kaitlyn Granger closed the set out with a 25-15 UTA win.
Appalachian State senior setter Amanda Krahl’s back-to-back service aces attempted to get the Mountaineer’s up to speed and brought them to an 8-6 trail.
