The volleyball team (7-8, 1-1) hosted its Sun Belt Conference opening weekend against Troy University and the University of South Alabama on Friday and Saturday at College Park Center.
UTA concluded the weekend 1-1.
Match No. 1: UTA 3, Troy University 1
The Mavericks led for most of the first set until there were three lead changes toward the halfway mark of the set. UTA eventually jumped ahead 15-14 and led the rest of the way.
UTA claimed the first set 25-21, taking the match lead 1-0.
Troy came back and took an early 5-2 lead in the second set.
