Volleyball senior Zhanelle Geathers made history Sunday after becoming the 18th member of the 1,000-kill club.
The middle blocker entered Sunday’s match against the University of Louisiana at Monroe just six kills shy of entering the record books.
Geathers picked up her 1,000th kill during the fourth set, ultimately leading the Mavericks to a 3-1 match victory to bounce back from a tough conference-opening loss.
Geathers joins alumna Qiana Canete and many other alumnae that went on to be All-Americans, NCAA Final Four members and conference players of the year in the 1,000-kill club.
