After a five-match road stretch, the volleyball team (9-12, 3-5) returned home to defeat Georgia State University on Friday at College Park Center.
UTA trailed early in the first set, allowing Georgia State to take a 9-5 lead. The Mavericks crept up on Georgia State to take a 22-20 lead, strolling to a 25-23 victory in the set and 1-0 lead in the match.
Georgia State came out strong in the second set, immediately taking a 4-1 lead over the Mavericks. The Panthers took the second set 25-21 and tied the match 1-1.
The Mavericks led the entire third set, soon securing the 25-17 victory and a 2-1 lead in the match.
