The volleyball team (3-3) claimed the 2018 Maverick Classic title with a pair of victories Saturday at College Park Center.
Match No. 1: UTA 3, Loyola University Maryland 1
After giving up the first point in the opening set, UTA responded with a 10-3 run to take the lead.
A service error from junior outside hitter Kylie Jedlicka ended the run for the Mavericks, which started what would be a 6-0 run for Loyola Maryland to knot the score at 10-10.
Both teams went back-and-forth in scoring over the next 18 possessions, keeping the game close at 19 all.
