The volleyball team fell 3-2 against Appalachian State University in the first round of the Sun Belt Championship on Thursday, bringing its season to an end.
The Mavericks trailed in the first set until they went on a 4-0 run and tied at 18-18. They eventually took a 22-20 lead and then won 25-21, taking a 1-0 lead in the match.
UTA jumped ahead early in the second set. The teams tied at 18-18 and then again at 23-23 before Appalachian State won the second set 25-23 and tied the match 1-1.
The teams opened the third set even at 4-4.
