UTA Volleyball lost to first-time opponent University of Nevada at Las Vegas in a 3-1 match Friday at Dugan Wellness Center.
The Rebels had the lead early in the first set, but three attack errors from the team allowed the Mavericks to catch up and tie the set 7-7.
Three kills from senior outside hitter Kaitlyn Granger aided UTA in a 3-1 run, forcing a timeout from UNLV. Sophomore middle blockers Zhanelle Geathers and Jessica Nwabuko continued to put up kills immediately following the timeout, stretching the run to 6-3 and taking a 15-11 lead.
UTA did not let go of the lead and went on to win the set 25-15, scoring the final five points.
