The UTA softball team (27-12, 6-9) snapped its season high six-game losing streak by sweeping Saturday’s doubleheader against Louisiana Monroe (20-25, 6-12) to take the series 2-1.
In game one, the Warhawks got ahead early, scoring on an RBI double to left field in the first inning.
The Mavericks answered in the bottom of the inning by scoring a run on an RBI single by junior catcher Kacey Everett.
UTA struggled to produce any offense over the next five innings, but were able to stay within reach of ULM thanks to another stellar outing by freshman pitcher Samantha Clakley.
