UTA Softball secures three-game sweep against Appalachian State University

The UTA softball team (17-6, 7-4) broke out five runs in the fifth inning to complete a three-game sweep over Appalachian State University with a 7-3 victory Saturday at Allan Saxe Field.

Down 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth, sophomore infielder Aileen Garcia drew a lead-off walk, then junior outfielder Kayci Moore was brought in to pinch run for Garcia.

Sophomore catcher Reagan Wright reached on a fielder’s choice and Moore advanced to second on a fielding error. Freshman infielder Kjirstyn Murphy hit a grounder to third base, and the third baseman sailed the ball over the first baseman’s head, allowing Moore to knot the game at three all.
