The softball team (9-12, 0-2) lost its fifth straight game as it fell to Iowa State University 2-1 on Tuesday at Allan Saxe Field.
Sophomore infielder Sami Williams started the scoring for the Cyclones with a two-out solo home run to left center giving her team a 1-0 lead.
In the bottom of the third, junior outfielder Bri Burchianti hit a one-out solo home run, her first of the season as the ball cleared the left field wall over the outstretched hands of the Iowa State left fielder, tying the score 1-1.
A pair of ground balls from sophomore infielder Brittany Wylie and senior infielder Sandra Mendoza ended the inning for UTA.
