UTA Softball ends road series with loss

The UTA Softball team (28-14, 7-11) ended their three-game series against the Georgia State Panthers (26-24, 9-9) on Sunday with a 4-2 loss at the Robert E. Heck Softball Complex.

The Mavericks were unable to score in the first inning after sophomore second baseman Sandra Mendoza opened the game with a single, extending her hit streak to 17 games.

The Panthers countered with a home run in the bottom of the first inning by junior third baseman Kensey Caldwell.

The Mavs took a 2-1 lead in the top of the third with an RBI double by Mendoza and an RBI sacrifice fly by freshman first baseman Brianna Burchianti.
