A five-run seventh inning culminated in a walk-off single by sophomore infielder KJ Murphy to give the softball team (29-24, 17-10) a 8-7 win over Texas State University on Saturday at Allan Saxe Field.
The result gave the Mavericks a series win over the Bobcats. The last matchup of the series was played on Senior Day, where five players were celebrated for their time at UTA.
Senior outfielders Laura Curry, Bri Burchianti, Kayci Moore, Krista Rude and Cy’Andria Newton were recognized with a postgame ceremony.
Curry said she was sad to have played her last home game for UTA.
