A day after being blown out by the No.5 ranked Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns (22-2, 4-1), the UTA softball team (22-4, 1-2) rebounded to pull off a 3-1 upset win to give the Ragin’ Cajuns only their second loss of the season.
Freshman pitcher Samantha Clakley took to the mound again for the Mavs and got out of the first inning scoreless, setting a different tone right from the beginning as the Ragin’ Cajuns took first inning leads in both games Saturday.
Sophomore second baseman Sandra Mendoza reached base on a single and made it to second on a bunt and eventually moved to third on a past ball.
