Jennifer AguirreNEW ORLEANS — The men’s basketball team (20-12, 11-8) downed Appalachian State University 84-68 in the Sun Belt Championship quarterfinals on Friday at the Lakefront Arena.
Senior guard Erick Neal led the Mavericks with 37 points, setting a new program record for most points scored in a conference tournament.
Just 30 seconds into the game, Neal opened up the scoring with a 3-pointer to get the momentum going on UTA’s side.
