More than 2,000 fans rallied to College Park Center on Saturday as the men’s basketball team (7-3) hosted its first-ever blackout game against Florida Gulf Coast University.
The Mavericks lost their second straight game 85-78, snapping a 21-game regular-season win streak at the center.
“We weren’t locked in mentally. We lose by seven points; we give them eight free throws from running our mouth or unnecessary harsh fouls,” head coach Scott Cross said. “You can’t do that and expect to be successful.”
UTA held an advantage over Florida Gulf Coast for most of the first half.
