The men’s basketball team (7-2) had its five-game win streak snapped after falling to the University of Northern Iowa 62-58 on Thursday at McLeod Center.
Despite taking an early lead, UTA trailed for most of the first half. Northern Iowa had UTA down by nine after a 10-0 run with a little under 11 minutes remaining.
The Mavericks drew within one, but a couple of Panther 3-pointers nullified the threat.
At the break, UTA trailed 25-29 while shooting 30.8 percent from the floor.
Heading into the second half, the Mavericks scored a quick five points to take a slim lead.
