The University of Louisiana at Lafayette made a second-half comeback to defeat the men’s basketball team (12-8, 3-4) 77-65 on Thursday at College Park Center.
“It was definitely a tale of two halves,” head coach Scott Cross said. “Hopefully our guys can grow from this.”
The Mavericks wasted no time putting points on the board, going on an 18-4 run to tip off the match-up. Senior forward Kevin Hervey took charge early as he drained 12 of the team’s 18 points.
Down by 14, the Ragin’ Cajuns responded with an 11-0 run to draw themselves within three, but a couple of fouls allowed the Mavericks to extend their advantage to seven.
