On Senior Night in College Park Center, strong performances by a number of UTA seniors helped lead the women’s basketball team (18-10, 12-5) to a 62-57 victory over Georgia State University.
Notable performances include senior guard Shelby Richards with 12 points, four assists and four rebounds, sophomore guard Aysia Evans with 11 points, with six of her points coming off 3-pointers, and sophomore guard Brooke Alexander with eight points and three rebounds.
The Lady Mavericks played a strong perimeter defense in the first quarter, holding Georgia State without a 3-point attempt in the entire quarter.
They got off to a slow start from deep, going 0-6 from beyond the arc until a corner 3-pointer by Alexander tied it 11-11 to end the first period.
