The women’s basketball team (1-0) tipped off its season with a Homecoming win Saturday at College Park Center.
A solid showing by senior center Rebekah VanDijk and senior guard Shelby Richards, along with a large offensive effort in the second half allowed UTA to defeat the University of the Incarnate Word 61-48.
“We’re super excited to have a 'W' on opening night,” head coach Krista Gerlich said. “I think it was really hard fought, and I think our kids tried to stay together and they were trying to do what we were asking them to do.”
Senior guard Crystal Allen said although they won, there needs to be improvement on the offensive side of the floor.
