UTA Baseball wins first game of series against Georgia State

On a 70-degree Friday evening at Clay Gould Ballpark, the baseball team (6-9) rallied from behind to snatch a 6-4 victory away from Georgia State University to open up conference play.

After giving up a solo home run early in the game followed by a three-run second, the Mavericks quickly found themselves trailing 4-0.

The Mavericks needed to put runs on the board, so junior catcher Will Olson did his part, sending an 0-2 pitch deep over the left field fence to bring the Mavericks within three.

The Mavericks never looked back from this point, scoring four big runs in the sixth inning to put the team up 5-4, and one in the eighth to seal the 6-4 victory.
