UTA Baseball wins first game in series against University of Louisiana at Monroe

Big performances at the plate and on the mound led the baseball team (12-11, 5-2) to a 5-2 win against the University of Louisiana at Monroe Warhawks on Thursday at Clay Gould Ballpark.

Senior infielder RJ Williams reeled in a career-high four RBIs to propel his team to victory.

The game started off slowly for the Mavericks as they found themselves down 2-1 entering the fourth. UTA had trouble making solid contact up to this point.

UTA had a sixth inning that carried the Mavericks to victory where they scored three of their five runs. Timely hits from Williams and sophomore infielder Zac Cook helped the Mavericks gain some breathing room through the last three frames.
