Junior first baseman Omar Salinas was voted the Sun Belt Conference player of the week on Monday.
Salinas was 7-for-15 at the plate with four home runs and 11 RBIs as the Mavericks went 2-2.
Salinas, who was an All-American at Hill College, said he's been working on changing his approach.
"I've been seeing the ball better," Salinas said. "Sitting more on fastballs, started laying off off-speed, finding my pitch."
Salinas and the Mavericks will quickly shift their eyes toward the conference schedule, with 12 conference games remaining in April.
