The UTA baseball team (18-15, 5-7) salvaged its weekend series against the University of Louisiana Monroe Warhawks (13-19, 4-8) on Sunday with an 8-4 win.
Friday night, junior starting pitcher Kadon Simmons gave up a five earned runs and picked up his second loss of the season in an 8-3 loss. The loss was his first since his start of the season against Stephen F. Austin, when he gave up four earned runs.
The Warhawks scored a quick four runs off Simmons in the first inning, but he was able to settle down and give up only two runs over the next five innings.
