The UTA Softball team opens its 2017 season Friday with a doubleheader in Tempe, Arizona, for the Kajikawa Classic.
The Mavericks will face the University of California at Riverside at 3:30 p.m. and follow with a game against the University of New Mexico at 7 p.m.
In 2015, the team fell to Riverside 2-1 in the Wildcat Classic. Head coach Kristie Fox said this weekend is less about the opponent and more about the Mavericks seeing what they’re made of.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing them just compete with passion,” Fox said. “We take it one game at a time.
