Softball clinches series with no-hitter

Freshman pitcher Randi Phillips (7-4) tossed a no-hitter to lift the softball team (12-13, 2-3) to a series clinching victory against Georgia State University 4-0 on Sunday at Allan Saxe Field.

Phillips threw the sixth no-hitter in program history and the first since alumna Sam Montes threw a no-hitter on April 8, 2015 against the University of Central Arkansas.

For Phillips, she was attempting to play like it was just another game.

“I wasn’t feeling anything,” Phillips said. “My thing is, act like we’re down, play like we’re down.”

Phillips said she credits the game to her defense, who made several clutch plays throughout the game.
