Men's tennis freshman goes undefeated in doubles

A freshman out-shined the upperclassmen in his first tournament of his collegiate career.

The men’s tennis team split up to play at three invitationals over the weekend and throughout this week. Freshman Sansidh Kommaraju made his debut for the men’s tennis team at the Rice Invitational on Friday at the George R. Brown Tennis Center and went undefeated in doubles play.

Kommaraju lost his first-round singles match in straight sets 6-1, 6-3, to Tulane University freshman Chase Schupp, but won his three doubles, 8-2, 8-6, 8-6.

Senior Pablo Colvee was the only UTA player to win a singles match with a 6-0, 7-6 final, but he lost in the next round 6-2, 4-6, 6-3.
