Homecoming wasn’t the only reason there was a buzz in the air at College Park Center.
The men’s basketball team started its season with an 89-82 victory over Texas Southern Saturday in front of 4,532 fans.
Senior guard Drew Charles got the men’s basketball season started with a 3-pointer, which sparked a 16-6 start for the Mavericks. However, Charles was forced to sit early after picking up two fouls in the first five minutes of the first half.
Lucky for the Mavericks, they have junior guard Kaelon Wilson.
Wilson led UTA in scoring in the first half with 12 points on 5/5 shooting and two steals to help the Mavericks take a 45-38 lead into halftime.
