The men’s basketball team (20-9, 11-7) held on to beat the Texas State Bobcats (12-15, 6-12) for a 75-69 win, despite shooting only 38.6 percent from the floor.
The Bobcats 13-27 performance from the free-throw line was their undoing.
“That’s two ugly wins in a row, which is a good thing,” head coach Scott Cross said. “That’s the sign of a good basketball team.”
It was a 32-28 game until sophomore guard Erick Neal connected with sophomore guard Kaelon Wilson for an alley-oop that ignited the crowd and started a 7-0 run that UTA used to close out the first half.
