The University of Minnesota turned a six-point halftime deficit into an 84-67 win over the UTA men’s basketball team Monday at Williams Arena.
UTA stumbled out of the gates early to fall behind 6-1, but countered with a 6-2 run to cut the deficit to one.
After tying the game at 17, a 3-pointer by junior guard Erick Neal put the Mavericks in front 20-17, their first lead since 1-0. From there, the Mavericks never let the Golden Gophers get ahead for the rest of the half, but they tied it twice. UTA finished the first half with a 41-25 lead.
